Development Initiatives

Promoting Development Initiative’s evidence-based research and analysis.

Development Initiatives is a world-leading international development research organisation that focuses on putting data-driven decision-making at the heart of poverty eradication. di:ga first worked with Development Initiatives in 2013, going in-house two days a week over a period of six months to provide day-to-day communications support, train staff on media relations and broadcast interview techniques, and help devise and implement a new three-year communications plan. We also helped launch the tenth Global Humanitarian Assistance (GHA) report in Geneva, which gained record amounts of media coverage.

In 2020, we were delighted to work on GHA report again, helping the research and communications teams to develop a messaging framework, core script and set of social and traditional media materials. The launch event featured high-level speakers from the UN, The New Humanitarian, World Bank and the Start Network, and the launch video was viewed over 165,000 times. The report was also covered by the Associated Press and sector specific outlets such as SciDev and ReliefWeb. We also helped develop and deliver a comms strategy for a project tracking progress of the world’s poorest, the P20, and provided advice on how communications can best support advocacy objectives and drive political change.
