Research on diet and climate

Johns Hopkins University

Communications strategy and media relations for groundbreaking research.

In 2019, di:ga worked with the Center for a Livable Future (CLF) at Johns Hopkins University to help launch groundbreaking new research on diet and climate change. The report modelled the greenhouse gas and freshwater impact of nine ‘plant-forward’ diets in 140 countries, finding that both will have to increase in order to meet nutrition and hunger goals in low-income countries.

We developed a global communications strategy, which used traditional media and engaging online tools, including a one-minute video and full social media pack, to reach target audiences in key countries.

We secured more than 160 media hits globally in English, French, Spanish, Mandarin and Portuguese, in outlets including Le Monde, the Guardian, Newsweek, Caixin and The Daily Telegraph. We also placed an op-ed with the Economic Times, and secured coverage with Reuters and AFP.

di:ga has continued to work with CLF since, to promote their research and advise on media and communications activities.
