Challenging corporate power

SumOfUs

Media coverage for online campaigns holding companies to account.

SumOfUs is an international consumer watchdog committed to curbing the growing power of corporations. Through online campaigning, SumOfUs mobilises its millions of members to hold the world’s most powerful multinational companies accountable.

With a growing British membership, SumOfUs brought di:ga in in early 2018 to develop and deliver a UK media strategy. We devised a plan to help them grow brand recognition, build better relationships with journalists, and increase their impact by integrating communications into their campaigns.

Through targeted proactive and reactive media work, we've helped SumOfUs successfully pressure some major global corporations to put people and planet before profit – from getting McDonald’s to ban plastic straws, to pressuring PayPal to close far-right activist Tommy Robinson’s account. Highlights of our work together include coverage in most UK newspapers, from the Daily Mail to the Guardian, as well as op-eds in the Guardian and the i, and broadcast interviews for the BBC, Sky and CNN.

We really enjoyed working with di:ga: thanks to their hard work, we've made important progress on our campaigns, and have articulated our organisation's mission to a much larger audience. Their expertise and openness to working flexibly with our team are very valuable.
