Audit of digital channels and SEO

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Ivan Samkov

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) formed a new Digital Engagement team in late 2023 to manage and improve audience engagement across its digital channels. To lay the foundations for a new digital strategy, DofE asked di:ga to take a deep dive into its digital channels to find out what was working and what could be improved.

We looked at the entire DofE digital ecosystem including the website, portal for DofE participants and coordinators, various email newsletters, and social channels. We examined the metrics that DofE used to measure success on its digital channels and how these learnings were applied. We compared DofE’s channel health to industry benchmarks. We performed a horizon scanning exercise to outline the pros and cons of moving onto new challenger social media channels. We investigated how DofE’s website performed for SEO, examining whether the most important pages were findable to its audience through search engines.

Using the results from the analysis, we recommended ways to increase impact and better engage DofE’s target audiences through its digital channels. We offered quick wins and longer-term goals broken down by channel. The team welcomed the digital audit results and have taken the recommendations forward in their work.
