Sarah Saxton

Overview

Sarah has 15 years' experience working in strategic communications, media relations, crisis communications and events, mostly in central government. She specialises in international issues, development and environment, and is a politically astute and creative communications leader.

At the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Sarah led the communications team for the hugely sucessful Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict. Her excellent judgement was developed dealing with front page news and complex policy issues as Chief Press Officer at the FCO and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Senior Press Officer at the Department for International Development (DFID). She frequently led communications in the FCO’s crisis team and the DFID humanitarian emergencies operations team and was deployed overseas on several occasions.

Sarah started her career as a geography teacher and she has also worked for the NHS and the European Commission.  She has a Geography degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Development Management. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, reading and trying new sports.
